About Kim Brockway — The Woman Behind Wessex Wise Woman

I’ve Been Where You Are — Heart Racing, Mind Spinning, Forgetting to Breathe

You know that feeling when you’re holding it all together on the outside, but inside you’re wondering when you became the woman who forgot how to just… breathe properly?

Yeah, I lived there for longer than I’d care to admit.

Despite being a Pagan practitioner for over twenty years (so theoretically I should have known about grounding and connecting with my breath), I still found myself running on empty, managing everyone else’s needs, and basically holding my breath through life.

It took a proper wake-up call for me to realise that all the ancient wisdom in the world doesn’t help if you’re too stressed to actually use it.

My Journey — From Breathless to Breathwork Coach

The short version: After two decades in the Pagan community and a fair few spectacular learning experiences (see: life throwing curveballs), I finally figured out how to blend ancient wisdom with practical tools that actually work in the real world.

The longer version: Every role I’ve held has centred around helping others — whether as a bank customer services adviser supporting people through life’s financial twists and turns, a primary school teaching assistant nurturing young minds, or a book editor helping authors bring their stories to life.

But it wasn’t until I became a certified Influential Breathwork™ Coach and BreathHealing Release™ Practitioner in 2024 that everything clicked into place. Breathwork felt like the culmination of this lifelong calling to guide, support, and empower others.

(Currently training as an Breathwork Master with Influential Breathwork Academy — because apparently I can’t help myself when it comes to learning more ways to help women breathe properly.)

My Approach — Ancient Wisdom Without the Woo-Woo Overload

This isn’t about transcending your humanity — it’s about coming home to it.

I work with midlife women who are tired of running on empty and ready to remember what it feels like to be in their own corner.

My approach blends:

  • Evidence-based breathwork techniques (because I love a bit of science with my ancient wisdom)
  • Seasonal awareness and natural rhythms (twenty years of Pagan practice has its perks)
  • Real-world practicality (no floating off into mystical realms required)
  • Honest conversation (life’s messy, let’s not pretend otherwise)

Every session respects that you’ve got a life to manage and limited time for complicated practices. We’re not here to add another overwhelming routine to your day — we’re here to give you tools that actually help when things get wobbly.

Life in Salisbury

I live in the heart of Salisbury with my husband and two daughters, surrounded by the beauty and history that this enchanting city offers. When I’m not working with clients or creating programmes, you’ll often find me celebrating the seasonal festivals, reading Tarot cards, or losing myself in a good book (often with a cup of tea in hand).

Salisbury’s ancient charm and close proximity to sacred sites like Stonehenge inspire much of my practice. There’s something about living so close to these ancient stones that reminds you daily that wisdom doesn’t have to be complicated — it just has to be real.

(I thought that cloud looked like a crocodile. What do you see above the Stones?)

I’ve been a guest on podcasts sharing my approach to breathwork and how it supports midlife women:

  • This Mum Loves Tech (Host: Nicola Walsh)The Power of Breathwork: Calming Your Mind and Tackling Tech Overwhelm. We chatted about how breathing techniques can help with tech stress; why slowing down your breath can stop cortisol in its tracks; my journey from book editor to breathwork coach; how breathwork helps with menopause, migraines, and mum-life chaos; practical ways to stay calm in the middle of a tech tantrum
  • Vision Board Blueprints (Host: Lisa Williams)Panel Discussion about Personal Growth. Panel discussion about personal growth journeys with fellow coaches Alison Dee and Karen Simpson. We explored how I help clients through tailored sessions that dig into whether their beliefs are truly theirs or inherited hand-me-downs; my transformation from science nerd to breathwork coach after discovering “the perfect combination of talk therapy and physical release”; and why I wish I’d known earlier that there’s no magic wand for personal growth — it’s an ongoing process where the real thrill is in becoming the person you were always meant to be.
